ICICI Prudential Life Enters into Agreement with Prudential IP Services
(13-Aug-26 10:21)
ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company Limited ('the Company') has announced the signing of a transitional agreement with Prudential IP Services Limited ('PIP'). This agreement formally amends the trademark and name licensing agreement originally executed on September 26, 2014.
This newly established transitional agreement outlines the timelines and conditions for managing two key aspects of the Company's re-branding:
The continued use of 'Prudential' trademarks as part of the Company's current re-branding efforts.
The Company's complete re-branding process, which includes removing the name 'Prudential' from its corporate name.
This amended agreement comes into effect on August 12, 2026; the original agreement was executed on September 26, 2014. The Company disclosed details regarding this agreement in a filing with the regulatory authority.
Any change to the licensing arrangement would significantly impact how the Company is identified by customers in its day-to-day operations. This agreement does not stand in isolation.
It follows the 'Letter of Undertaking' signed by ICICI Bank and Prudential Corporation Holdings on July 4 to address governance-related matters arising from the joint venture.
The document filed on July 4 also contains other key information; specifically, the word 'Prudential' is to be removed from the Company's name, and it will be changed to 'ICICI Life Insurance'. That very name change has created the need to update arrangements regarding the trade name and trademark.
